What can Counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy help with?
Counselling offers a safe space to talk through your feelings and experiences and is helpful in dealing with tough life events; feeling stuck; confused or in search of personal growth.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT for short, is a type of talking therapy that's all about changing how you think and behave to better manage life's problems including anxiety, depression & stress.
At the Cedar Room we will always tailor Counselling and CBT support to YOUR needs.
With CBT, you can:
-
Pick up some handy skills to deal with life's twists and turns
-
Tweak thoughts and behaviours that might be causing you trouble
-
Work on finding solutions to your problems
-
Get a better grasp on how your past experiences are impacting you in the here and now
-
There are many practical tools as well. Feeling overwhelmed? Here’s some relaxation techniques. Trouble sleeping? We have CBT strategies for that as well
-
And the idea is you become your own therapist, so we can gear you up for whatever challenges come your way in the future

OUR SERVICES

Ever feel like anxiety is putting the brakes on your life? Maybe you're passing up on things you'd love to do, or dodging certain situations just to avoid that anxious feeling? You know that nagging voice in your head that keeps going "What if... what if... what if..."? You're not alone in this, trust me.
Here's some good news though - CBT is the ‘go to’ when it comes to dealing with anxiety. It's got some solid research backing it up, showing it can really help with all sorts of anxiety issues.
Curious about how CBT could help you tame those anxious thoughts and behaviours? Why not drop us a line to find out more?
Stress often shows as physical symptoms first (for example: muscle tension and pain; headaches; dizziness; sleep disturbance or high blood pressure) and if ongoing or left unchecked can trigger or worsen many serious health problems.
Why not pick up some handy CBT tools and techniques to keep stress in check? It's all about tackling stress head-on before it gets the upper hand. With these tools in your mental toolkit, you'll be better equipped to handle whatever life throws your way. Think of it as your personal stress-busting strategy - pretty useful in today's hectic world, don't you think?

Feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Negative thinking patterns like "I'm no good at anything," or "Things will never get better." You’ve maybe stopped doing things you enjoy or give a sense of achievement? Low mood can make even small problems seem unsurmountable.
CBT is really helpful when it comes to dealing with depression and works on negative thinking patterns and teaches you to catch, check, challenge and change them (it’s NOT about being super-positive all the time, that’s unrealistic, we are looking for balance). Working on gradually getting back into doing those activities, which can really boost your mood and use CBT to give you tools to break problems down and tackle them step by step.
No matter how these changes have landed with you, they can be tough to handle, but help is on hand.
I have 20 years’ experience of managing and supporting others through transitions: from school into employment, college or university; changing jobs & careers; returning to education; and working with loss of a loved one, pregnancy and chronic or long-term health conditions.
We can talk about change, loss and uncertainty and explore what that sense of loss might mean to you and provide tailored one to one support drawing upon this extensive experience combined with psychotherapy expertise.

Because of its characteristics (size, diameter, lifespan), the cedar has become a symbol of greatness, of nobility, of strength and of incorruptibility. For Celtic astrology, the cedar symbolises trust
“The heart's affections are divided like the branches of the cedar tree; if the tree loses one strong branch; it will suffer but it does not die; it will pour all its vitality into the next branch so that it will grow and fill the empty place”.
